Piet van den Boog portrait of minister Marja van Bijsterveldt, revealed at the Dutch Ministry of Edu

It is a tradition of cabinet and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) to make a “farewell portrait” of minister and secretary of state.

All the portraits from the last 90 years, from 1918 to present, are permanently exhibited in the hall of the Ministry and are accessible to the public from the Orange Buitensingel.

Minister/secretary of state is free to choose artist himself/herself.

Piet van den Boog had a great pleasure and honour to be invited to make a portrait of a minister for the second time in a row. After painting a portrait of Mr. Ronald Plasterk, van den Boog made this time a portrait of Mrs. Marja van Bijsterveldt, a former minister of Education, Culture and Science (2010-2011).

The portrait is made public on 16th October 2014 in the Ministry in Den Haag in presents of former & present minsters and state secretaries and is placed in the hall on the Orange Buitensingel.
